What is the obsession with back-lit keys?

Do you actually look at the keyboard when you're typing?

    Yes.

Although I'd be interested in an Apple created phone (depending on what it turned out to be), I doubt they will come out with a CDMA version....so in the end I'll be SOL anyway...

I voted for Obama. I respect Obama. I will likely vote again for him against lesser candidates. He will likely win reelection.

But I can't say I'm proud of what he's doing and not doing. And I'm not sure how others can be either.

Yeah it's strange. I called them back. They
don't have anything in their system one way
or another but told me to stop in tomorrow and
    they will check the system.

Store is on my way to work so I don't mind.

It doesn't cost the consumer any more, why wouldn't you want the people who actually make the music you are listening to get compensated?

This debate is stale. People want something for nothing.

    Two things.

    1) Who says the people who actually make the music would get any of this money in the first place?

    2) Digital distribution is more profitable per unit than CDs. There are no manufacturing or shipping costs.

Now who is it that wants something for nothing?

    I tried, I discovered layers.

Fact: There are "layers" if you can even call them that.
    Another Fact: They mean nothing.

They're not layers in any common use of the word in design. However, for want of a better word, they're elements. Those looking for them need to view the file in outline mode in Illustrator (Apple Y)

Of course not, they will find something else to argue about.

True... and I'll leave that for others. It was a mistake of mine to look at MR today and be sucked into the stupidity. Now I really must take leave of all of you...

Oh, we are totally getting an iPad app to go along with this program. I can feel it.

I would oh-so love the ability to down-rez a Final Cut project and send it to an iPad...do all my rough cutting there...and then bring it back to the Mac and re-link it to the real footage to do the detail work.

I've had a lot of fun playing with iMovie on the iPad. I am drooling for something similar that works as part of a Final Cut Pro workflow.

Interesting news, but the bit about booting competitors is downright disgusting.

I'm a little confused...why was Avid presenting at a Final Cut Pro User Group's meeting anyway? Do they just come in and are like "Hey, you've all made a mistake!" or something?

Some of them do but not sure do all of them. I've got several nice rides from those series but they are mainly from higher level series.

Cool, Thanks. You must be pretty far?

It wont sell because the iPad lines will block the view in store.

I will probably buy one! :D

There will not be any lines and hey, they might just have some stock!

What a novel idea! Have stock for a product that you say you produce, WOW what a concept!

The Today show is an embarrassment. The US major tv networks do not have any real morning news programs. How to trim your dog's ears and an inside look into American Idol contestants is NOT NEWS. It is an entertainment talk show.

The network morning "news" shows have always been fluff. What's worse is that the so-called "hard news" shows are just as bad, and not just in the morning -- CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News all run mindless fluff instead of news. And don't get me started with MSNBC airing Eye-Puss in the Morning.

Looks like there's a time frame on the side. I imagine you could just click there to find a certain date. What could be simpler than that?

    David

Right, I meant less flashy, not simpler.

Are you saying 99% of Europeans use cell phones or that 99% of Europe is cell-ready? If the former, then there must be a ton of kids yapping it up on the wireless. ;)

I'm saying that every one and their dog has a cell phone in Europe. Really. Quite literally. http://www.environmental-studies.de/products/Dog-Tracking/dog-tracking.html ;)

As soon as the kids goes to school they will get a phone and many people have several and machines utilizing mobile phones are getting more common, so in many countries the penetration number is now more than 100%.

So, you're comparing a mature product (Tiger) to one that's still in beta and which by all accounts has plenty of outstanding issues before it's ever released (Vista)?

Not the fairest of comparisons, is it? Perhaps we should compare the latest of the Leopard builds with the latest Vista build for a more valid comparison of the relative position of the two OSs?

"Beige, boring box". Have you seen some of the hideous case designs that PC companies come out with? Not beige and far from boring (in a bad way). Apple's industrial design and grasp of asthetics and ergonomics is light years ahead.

Its perfectly valid to compare Tiger to Vista. especially since vista (or longhorn) was announced way before tiger was even previewed. If we want to compare the final vista product with a product thats on a similar timeline we would probably have to wait till 10.6 ;)

I don't like Adobe anymore.

They have become the Microsoft of the graphics world. See what having lots of money can do to you? Makes you cocky. That's one big reason I don't want Apple to gain much more market share. I want them to have just enough to keep them working hard... not so much to make them fat and lazy and greedy.

    Ever heard of DoCoMo?
    And....

Trying to say that DoCoMo is the majority of the other 19%? Doubt it.

I don't think it is evil. It is crazy for people to pretend like Google makes Android to be benevolent and help the world. They have financial motives, and they have to protect their interests. Removing Google as search is probably going to be a huge no-no. It is kind of dumb that anyone has even tried to do that... That is part of the problem. Some of the carriers/manufacturers are stupid.

They have disrespected what Google has done for them and forced Google to clamp down. When someone gives you something for free and does a lot of work for you, you can at least respect their position and understand when you do things that might be stepping on their toes.

That is the real problem with the android commodity market though. It is not google, it is all the second rate manufacturers who sucked at making smartphones before Apple and Google, and continue to do dumb things to this day.

You mix a more general usage based OS with a hardware marketplace filled with knuckleheads, and you end up with the mess that is the Android hardware market and ecosystem.

That was a hoot changing the search to Bing. Only thing gutsier would be to somehow replace every admob ad to a competitor.

I wouldn't leave Google completely blameless here. They knew who they were dealing with. They need eyeballs to sell (ad business) so they made their bed. Same reason why the software marketplace on android sucks, they designed it for their bottom line (eyeballs). They aren't making a product for people to use, they're making a channel to deliver a product (eyeballs) to their customers (advertisers).

If can prove to the record companies that all the music on my iPod is legitimately sourced, I expect them to send me a refund of this fee.

Seriously, name me ONE other industry where the sales and marketing people blatantly call their customers liars, cheats and thieves, while we just sit there and take it.

This development isn't surprising, but reassuring nontheless that Apple didn't cripple the expandability of these machines.

RadioShack store manager here and i have some very interesting information if you guys don't already know this.

Now, What do you think about getting your iPhone 4 at the shack? I'll see you there... :)I like the trade-in part. But must we activate the phone in the store? I would rather take the sealed box home and activate there over the phone with AT&T. Will that be allowed?
