How do i know what format the drive is in?
Plug the external drive into your MacBook Pro, and open a finder window. The WD drive should show up in the left part of the finder window, under devices.
Right-click on the drive, and click on "Get Info".
In the Info window, part way down you'll see the format. For example:
Format: MS-DOS (FAT32)
or
Format: Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
or
something else for NTFS...
Remember, you can't reformat a drive (or a partition) without losing the files currently on that drive (partition). So, you MUST copy the files somewhere else, first.

In my view I don't see a problem with apple telling us more about this product.
Well that's all well and good, but what do you want us to do about it? Nobody who knows any further info is willing to talk.

Hi, I want to put some CD's that I purchased on my iTunes to put on my iPod. The only problem is that I am getting a new laptop soon, my BlackBook is dyeing.)))): Well, so far I have bought all my music on iTunes, but it's so expensive. I bought many CD's like I said, and I'm putting them on iTunes. When I plug the iPod into a new computer, it would ask me if I wanted to transfer my purchases. And everything that I bought would transfer. The songs that I got from other websites wouldn't transfer. But If I import the CD's through iTunes, will it still transfer to the new computer? Or do they have to be bought from iTunes?
Thank You!
If you have an external hard drive just move the files from one computer to another, it's pretty easy if you do it that way. If you don't have one, just use the program I used to use, Idump Pro, here's a link for the cnet download of that program. http://download.cnet.com/iDumpPro/3000-2141_4-10805181.html

1.) Darn you and your working latch :P
2.) the only thing you should need the Manual for would be to calibrate the battery. Maybe. But remember to do it.
3.) Check out my pics (http://homepage.mac.com/counterfit/PhotoAlbum5.html).

Question:
Should a mac pro server have less speed and more grunt, whereas a workstation have more speed and less grunt?
Thoughts and feelings on it
( I have to deploy some osx servers but a master workstation does a huge amount of work, so trying to spend the cash best)

My Xbox was the same. I've heard Wii chips have a stealth mode too.
Yeah thats how they work apparently.
The Cyclowiz chip is meant to have support for playback of import titles - or so I have been told.
The previous firmware they released gave :-

I've recently noticed- some iLife apps are not working. The biggest concern is iPhoto - I've opened up iPhoto '11 (iLife 11) but it says:
http://i51.tinypic.com/2zhlixz.png
However, and here's the catch - iDVD, iMovie, working. Just a couple apps are not working (I can't check every single one for compatibility). Is this a universal problem? How do I fix it? I have iLife '10 and '09 if that helps but I haven't checked if they work. Either way, I would like to use iLife '11 over either older versions... Thanks!

There is a minor difference - the new iMacs have an ambient light sensor which will provide ideal brightness whether you are in a dark or well-lit environment.
If you manually set the brightness, does it return? Perhaps the display was set too bright/dim for the conditions?
From Apple's site: "To conserve power and relieve eyestrain, a built-in ambient light sensor automatically adjusts the screen brightness on MacBook, MacBook Pro and iMac to suit the ambient light of whatever room youre in."

I would contact Apple and they will replace the SuperDrive under AppleCare.
I don't really wanna go through all that hassle just for that...
The superdrive works fine and everything. Just a few times now it wouldnt bring the disk into the drive unless I restarted it..
I'd rather figure out the problem, I don't use the drive enough to be without my computer IF they even were to replace it.

They just need to have another Us Fest, seriously. For those that don't remember, in the early 80s (before Apple lost it's cool, while Jobs and Woz were still a team) they laid down sod over part of the desert, had air-conditioned tents, and threw a rock festival in part for their employees and the press. This was two decades before Apple got into digital music... they knew how to throw a party :)
edit: I'm not sure if it was Apple or Wozniac that officially sponsored it, so don't flame me.

FANTASTIC. I don't know why it didn't occur to me to go the NAS route. Thanks all, I'll check out Synology and Drobo... seems like the best way to go!

I have read all the threads, links, and intimations. Some of the links are a bit dated.
What is the best format to record video on that plays nicely with the MAC?
I need to shoot some video content for my website and get it edited up for use.
Thanks.
