    Just venting I suppose.

Pissing about how much non-biodegradable plastic (created with some by product of ozone destroying OIL no doubt) your MWSF 2008 badge is made with is... NUCKING FUTS!

    My official clinical diagnosis: BONKERS!

(blu-ray drive vs. standrd dvd drive; built-in wireless vs. not built in wireless; free internet vs. not free internet; 60 gig HDD vs. 20 gig HDD; HDMI vs. no HDMI... any questions?)

I have a question... is that all worth the extra $200? I played Crackdown all day yesterday, and it seemed to run just as well on my 360 as it runs on the ps3...oh, wait.:D

    Get a Mac.

You're right, FastMac doesn't make them anymore. I can't find any site online that carries them, even eBay.

Well, not quite. Gnutella was actually it's own network. Torrents don't have one specific network, every torrent site is kind of its own network. So they can never never fully shut them down, and torrent clients don't actually help you seek out torrents on the networks (would be cool if they did though). So i guess that's the difference. Either way, call it stealing or not, that's how i obtain my media.

When I said 'it's not a 'service' itself' I meant limewire, not Gnutella, sorry for the confusion there.

I didn't consider that the integrated search functionality of 'straight-up' P2P (vs torrents) would harm them from a legal point of view, but considering that torrent sites are under threat that makes sense. I suppose it only made sense to go after limewire since it's the biggest Gnutella client, chasing the others probably wasn't cost-effective.

Actually, if you use the official music videos (if available) and choose the high quality option on the converter sites, the quality is perfect.

Unless those sites are demuxing the video, which I *highly* doubt, you're getting music at 128kbps that's been re-encoded at least once. That's a helluva long way from perfection.

Being known as a tech who started on Apple IIs, my workshop was visited by a chap clutching a dead IIc.

He explained that it had been running a scientific research program that was custom written and that the research was a 20 year program with only one year to go. The purchase order came from the CSIRO (

I'm curious - what turned out to be wrong with the IIc? Did everything come out all right?

Is it safe to leave the mac pro on without a monitor attached for remote logins? I am selling my monitor and won't have a replacement for a while but I do need access. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It was the only RPG i have ever played. I thought it was a great game, just wish i had bought it for the SNES while it was still for sale a retail stores. I can't really justify spending $50 on a used SNES cartridge. Hopefully it will come out for the virtual console.

I wanted to ask this question a bit differently. As the title to my post says: How did you "get trapped" with the lighting equipment or "choosing" your lighting equipment !!!

    igmolinav : ) !!!

Lighting isn't like buying into a camera system, you can mix and match lights. It's starting to change in that some manufactures now have control systems, but to be honest unless you've got a strobe on a boom, it's easier to just walk over to the strobe and adjust it manually.

I've got a couple of old alienbees, a couple of Profotos and I've just got a couple of Einsteins, not to mention a few Canon and Vivitar speedlites too. The only thing is that is a bit annoying is that that not all modifiers can be used on all the strobes, but you tend to use them in different ways anyway so it's not much of a problem.

Start out with cheap lights like a couple of Alienbees and when you feel you need some of the function of more expensive lights just add them and use the cheaper strobes for non key lights. You don't need a couple of $2000 strobes with a computer control unit to light a background when a couple of $200 alienbees on optical trigger will do the same job and probably better since there's less to go wrong. When location shooting it's easier to take a couple of monolights for the main lights but then use speedlites for the extra lights, they don't need to be as powerful as you won't be using them in a softboxes, they're heaps smaller, smaller lights = smaller stands, and no cables or external powerpacks.

Actually now that I think about it I don't think there is a single lighting system I could live with, none of them are really flexible enough.

I've used it on my Mac Pro, but only while in XP. I've played GTR2 and a couple other demo's with it and it works great. I believe you need to find the wingman drivers for it. just google wingman drivers or Driving force pro pc drivers or something. I think there are drivers for OS X as well, but i'm not certain on that.

    May 4, 04:24 PM
Correct. Why not just test it to find out for yourself? It's quite simple to do.

Thanks I just did and that works. Looks like that will be my solution. I appreciate your time and help.

So since I'm already planning on buying that 120gb hard drive upgrade for my iPod, I should just look for a broken iPod 6th gen with just a faulty hard drive and then take that logic-board, throw it into my 5.5 gen with the upgraded hard drive, and it should work? iTunes would be able to read that my iPod was indeed a 6th gen, install the firmware necessary, and I would be good to go?
