Why advertise what kind of electronics can be found in your residence?

Reminds me of those minivans with a complete list of pets and family members that morons put on the back window in the form of stick figures. Sometimes with family names underneath.

Or the ricers who buy stickers to place on their Civics with complete parts list of theirs mods on the side of their cars

Eric, which side of your gf's car got hit? A "T-bone" accident is a very scary thing. It's amazing that you are both unscathed, but you WILL be much more sore today and tomorrow than you were last night. Make sure you both consult a doctor. ;)

Almost afraid to ask...did your nano survive?

This thread is so full of fail it hurts! :D

What you're talking about is a basic function of an iPhone (backup/restore)

Boggles my mind that a large portion of the iPhone having population doesn't even know how to use it.

I'll have to admit that I forgot the standard iTunes backup did the SMS log also. I'm so used to iTunes backup sucking in so many other ways, I was confused. ;) Like, for instance, why it keeps backups from months ago, yet often only one from recently, yet iTunes fills my recycle bin with copies of old apps that have been upgraded and I can't officially do anything with the copies.

    Thanks!

Actually, what I meant was that I need the script for a javascript puzzle generator that will work in Safari. I appreciate the answer though!

Ah. Thanks for the explanation. I was trying to figure out why they would be doing this from the individual back to the servers.

I can see why this is such a screwy process. I guess I always thought (assumed) they were threading it but now that you mentioned it I see exactly what you mean.

One thing that doesn't quite make since to me though is why does it rely on networking if it's all local? I know this part must be true because I find that folding frequently crashes and/or becomes corrupted when I change networks.

It seems like this should also make it friendlier to other tasks being run on the system since it will be one multithreaded task possibly making it more flexible. I know right now I frequently have to pause folding or re-nice it if I plan on running any large streaming clients like Netflix.

are you kidding? That only worked properly a small percentage of the time.

Twitlonger defeats the entire purpose of twitter, and I say good riddance.

It worked for me every time I used it to read a tweet with it.

If it defeats the purpose then they need to stop supporting it altogether, as you can post tweets with it that extend past the 140 characters, just not able to extend the tweet in-line.

I just got home with my shiny new iPad2! The line was incredible -- it went from the Apple store down to Nordstrom and had looped all the way back to the Apple store by 5:00. I estimate 300 people or more.

i am quite savy when it comes to macs but this issue has me stumped. it will not restart OSX, but when you restart it shuts down instead and installs updates properly. it will boot from a CD or DVD but shuts down about 3 minutes later. tried whipping the HDD but i couldnt do it do so with OSX snow leopard disk, so i took the HDD out and used my USB to SATA adapter and formatted it with disk utility on an iMac, put the HDD back it and install snow leopard back onto it [on the macbook] had a successful install and OSX works properly, but it still shuts down 3 minutes later when trying to boot from disk, i.e. OSX disk or win7 disk.

also when i had win7 installed before i wiped the HDD it would start up properly and be fully functional for 2 minutes then shut down out of the blue, couldnt get more than 2 minutes on it after win7 booted up.

on another related note rite after i shut it down or after it shuts itself down it wont start back up again, but it will after i take the battery out disconnect the charger and let it sit for 2 minutes without power [figured this out with trial and error and reseting the PRAM not working], then itll start up OSX just fine, but still the 3 minute error with start up disks.

i upgraded the HDD to a 7200rpm higher capacity drive a shortly after i bought it, replaced most of the casing besides the keyboard with black macbook casing [MUCH more durable than white], upgraded with G-Skill ram a few months ago for gaming on windows [ram isnt the problem], then took it apart again to replace the LCD [which was shipped broken and had to put the original LCD back in, i also fixed my disk drive at this point because it was seated a few millimeters up making disks hard to insert] which is when i started having this problem and the LCD wouldnt auto shut off [not a big problem i just press command+option+enter to put to sleep before i close the lid]

i really want windows 7 back so i can play fallout 3, new vegas, bad company 2, and borderlands again. its surprising how well the graphics card can handle with these intensely graphical games, i could play on medium-high settings most of the time [after ram upgrade] with the 9400m graphics card. i do have a desktop with a GTX 460 in it, but i really need the portability of my macbook since i constantly have to move from room to room.

    any help is appreciated!

i'd say go for the iBook and max out the RAM. I have an iBook 600 from late and there is really nothing I cant do with it. It may be slow at certain tasks, but that is very specialized and the iBook is generally considered an allaround computer.

You'd be at an advantage over me anyways, because you get the extra 100MHz, the extra 256k cache, and QuartzExtreme capabilities.

The iBook, as always, is a solid buy.

It would be quite risky to sell your machine since the Dual core G5 may or may not come. Maybe even never. However, as for keeping your memory if there is a switch to DDR 2 the current DDR is not physically compatible. DDR 2 uses 240 Pins to connect and ddr uses 184 pins to connect to the motherboard.

If Apple does release a dual dual G5 I doubt that prices of a used G5 will fall by any significant amount. Since it seems likely to me that a dual dual would only be a top of the line model. I assume this since when you look at dual core AMD and Intel CPUs they are appreciably more expensive than their similar speed single core counter part (intel 3.0Ghz $175 dual core 3.0ghz $321 at newegg) . It wouldn't be cost effective to make all models dual dual core. The other possiblity that may have more effect on price would be the top model G5 being a Dual dual core model while lower end and mid range models have their dual single core processors removed to be replaced with a single dual core processor.

The only forseeable reason I could see for apple switching all models for dual core 970's is if the increased volume leads to lower per unit prices, the pin out is changed for the CPU to allow for the greater number of connections needed to switch to DDR2, and/or the new northbridge allows for SATA 2 and PCI-E connections.

Are u using SSL mind you that will change the ports and thus not use smtp 25.
as far as the mail are you mail to user@server.domain.com or user@domain.com if you are using the last one you have to change this in the mail server. also a lot of iso providers will not allow you to send from smtp port 25 so you will have to use their smtp as a smart host.

so SSL on smtp will be 587, imap incoming SSL on 143

    domainname domain.com servername server.domain.com

also did you forwarded the correct ports to your server?? wan ip port -> server internal ip

    p.s wan port 143 -> lan serverip port 143

    Hello everyone!

I am wondering if somebody could help me. For the last 3 months I have been working on creating an animated stopmotion film. I have created the real 3D sets, done the clay figures and shot the still images. As I am not very good with computers and all the settings that there are, I just imported every single image from iPhoto into Imovie and changed the time lapse for each image to 0,2 and thats how I created the animated film. It looks good, but since the film is now over 5 min long, the software (or can it be my computer?)gets really slow. Sometimes I cant even watch the video, and definitely not in the full size mode, just on a small video image in imovie.
I am getting really stressed about this now since I have put so much work into it and just want to finish the project (maybe add another 2 more min) and export it to a dvd with as good quality as possible.

I started to read about imovie and discovered it isnt supposed to be used for stopmotion. So.. I just got istopmotion and did a small test reimporting just onescene, then trying to export it, and importing it into imovie (i like using imovie because of all the possibilities of playing around with contrasts and colors)
But now the quality of the images looks really bad. It isnt at all as sharp as before. I have tried so many different settings while exporting from istopmotion, but it doesnt seem to make much difference. I am working in 4:3 ration, and the best option seems to be HD ( but in 16:9 only) so that doesnt seem to work.

Does anybody have any advice for me?
Should I use a completely different software for this and start from scratch?
Or is there maybe just some small trick that I am missing??

I would be very thankful for help!

    Lia

What codec is istopmotion exporting the video at? It's probably compressing the video before you send it back into iMovie which is exactly what you don't want it to do.
